How the count works
The count has 197 countries. They are the 193 member states of the United Nations, Vatican City, Palestine, Taiwan and Kosovo.
The map also shows 36 territories, such as Greenland, Puerto Rico and Hong Kong. You can mark them. They are not in the count.
A country where you lived counts as visited. A country that you want to go to does not count as visited.
Small countries show as dots on the map. You can mark them in the same way as the other countries.
The map data is from Natural Earth. It is in the public domain. The page draws the map itself. It loads no map from another site.
